Looking for recommendations for studies? Need direction for your group?

Here are 4 simple steps to develop a curriculum map for your small group:

Step 1: Consider

When selecting curriculum for your small group consider:

• Does this curriculum promote the 3 values of our small groups: People, Bible & Mission?
• Does this curriculum help achieve the goals and purposes of your particular group?
• Does this curriculum meet the needs and spiritual maturity of your group?
• Does this curriculum stimulate discussion and interaction within your group?
• Does this curriculum glorify Jesus and deepen your group’s faith in Him?

Step 2: Consult

When selecting curriculum for your small group:

• Consult the Recommended Curriculum and Authors to help guide your curriculum search.
• Consult the hundreds of options found on rightnow Media.
• Consult your group for ideas, interests & insights.
• Consult the Small Group Coordinator for further assistance and guidance if needed.

Step 3: Choose

When selecting curriculum for your small group:

• Choose a curriculum that fits within the 3 values of our small groups:

People: Christian community, fellowship, spiritual growth, etc.
Bible: Bible studies, Bible study skills, Biblical & theological concepts, etc.
Mission: Evangelism, spiritual gifts, service, apologetics, etc.

• Choose a curriculum that will be best for your entire Small Group. Try to identify a curriculum that will challenge every member of your Small Group to take new steps of growth in Christ.

• Choose varying topics and types of curriculum. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. Look for topics that will help members to grow in various ways over the course of a year.

Example of a Curriculum Map for a year:
Session 1Study a book of the Bible (using study guide or rightnow Media)
Session 2Study a topical book on mission
Session 3Video curriculum from rightnow Media on spiritual growth

Notice that in each session the small group studies a different topic and uses a different type of curriculum (straight from Scripture, book & video). This is what we mean by using variety.

If you find a study you would like to use that is not on the Recommended Curriculum list, please communicate with the Small Group Coordinator about your curriculum choice.

Step 4: Create

Utilize your curriculum selections to create a 1 Year Curriculum Map. The Curriculum Map will help guide your small group through the coming year. The Curriculum Map will automatically be submitted to the Small Group Coordinator when completed. You will have the option to receive your Curriculum Map in an email, pick up a printed copy from the church office or both.
