Expectations Women’s Center is a nonprofit organization that exists to help clients navigate everything from relationships to pregnancy decisions to parenting. Empowering clients with fact and evidence-based education, so informed decisions about relationships, pregnancy, abortion, adoption and parenting are made. All services are confidential and free of charge.
Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Receptionists
  • Advocates (male and female) – work directly with clients, offering emotional support and providing education
  • Bulk mailers – available during the day to help prepare our large mailings – several times a year

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is seeking to put God’s love into action and brings people together to build home, community and hope. Habitat
homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Construction (Must be 16 years old for active construction site) you do not have to know anything about construction to volunteer! We will teach you everything you need to know to complete the task at hand.
  • ReStore – receiving and processing product donations, merchandising, customer service and running register or helping with administrative tasks.

Camp Susque

Camp Susque – Biblical evangelism and growth in Christian character for youth, young adults and families.

  • Annual Opportunities Setup, cooking, concessions, timing, registration, trail maintenance, trail marking, photographer, cleanup, etc.
    – Harvest Festival and Trail Run – early September through the week following the Trail Run
    – Work Fellowship Weekend(s): A weekend in November, A weekend in April
    – Annual Fundraising Banquet: 2nd weekend in April Summer Laundry: support seasonal staff by volunteering for laundry duty throughout the summer.
  • Year round opportunities
    – Mailing Preparation: Applying labels, stuffing envelopes. These opportunities are sporadic.
    – Community Flyer – Street team deliver and hang flyers local businesses (with permission).
    – Trail Maintenance: nearly 25 miles of trails, marking blazes, removing blow downs, and noting/fixing
    – Skilled tradesman? Susque may need your help from time to time!
  • Specialty volunteer options (background checks and additional training may be required!)
    – Field Trip instructors – May-June, and a few in September and October, mid-week 9AM to 3PM.
    – School of Discovery Teachers: Do you have a special talent or skill that may be important for homeschooled youth to learn?

Transform

Transform is a local mission experience working on various homes and projects for those in needs in our community – greater Williamsport. Transform is a ministry of First Church and is an annual mission usually held the last week of July.

THRIVE

THRIVE equips people from diverse cultures with increased language proficiency and cultural competence as well as provides immigration legal assistance and opportunities to integrate with and serve the community.
Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Language Cafe – Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30 at City Alliance Church. Informal time to chat get to know people. Allows international people a safe place to practice English.
  • Monthly international takeout meal – 3rd Wednesday each month, cooking 2-5pm
  • Childcare in the summer. Monday and Wednesday mornings during adult ESL classes 9-10:30 am

West End Christian Community Center
Works in covenant with Christ to embrace and unify all communities with His love by responding to the spiritual, physical, emotional, and social needs of all those we serve.
Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Soup Kitchen – 8:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday’s.
  • Clothes Closet / Thrift Shop – sort through clothing donations
    – Wednesday 4:30 to 6:45 pm, Saturday mornings 8:30 am.
  • Clothes Closet/Thrift Shop- run the cash register and bag purchases. Weekdays 9-2
  • Shoe Express – Greet fit children’s shoes. 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month 10am to noon.
  • Fundraisers and fundraising committee. Last Wednesday every 2 months.
