Fall Adult Sunday School
:
"
Portrait of a Struggle,
" by Paul Tripp.
Why are the normal things of everyday life such a struggle? Why is communication so difficult? Why do relationships end up disappointing us? Why do all of us struggle with anger? God has chosen to keep his children in relationships with flawed people in situations in a broken world. But we do not need to be discouraged; God is using all of this to do wonderful things in us and through us. Don't give way to ugly anger. Don't be paralyzed by discouragement. Come and watch a portrait be painted of a much better way.
Next Quarter's Options:
1 AND 2 THESSALONIANS:
Taught by Phil Johnson
Paul was only in Thessalonica for a short period of time. Yet he wrote 2 epistles to the church instrucitng the "babes in Christ" there what they needed to know. Join us as we conduct a verse by verse examination of these letters.
CHRISTIAN MISSION IN THE MODERN WORLD:
Taught by Jim Redka and members of the Outreach committee
This is a course based on the classic book (first published in 1975 and updated in 2008) by John Stott. We will explore some divergent opinions; but turn to the scripture for God's leading in finding personal mission as well as the mission of the modern church. Our class will emphasize exploring practical means of mission following the example of Christ in his cultrue. We will seek growth in understanding LCPC's mission as a congregation of committed Christians.
THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS:
Taught by Frank Conner
The Adult Bible Class study this quarter is a surrey of Old Testament wisdom literature. The lessons in Unit 1, "Teaching and Learning" are focused on human wisdom and transmit lessons learned from experience and tradition. They are the words of teacher to a student, or parent to a child. Words of wisdom passed on from one generation to another. The lessons draw on the wisdom collected by the writers fo Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.
Unit 2, "Jesus Teaches Wisdom" examines Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and its relationship to the traditional teaching of the Law. The first four lessons give attention to what Jesus says to his disciples about living, forgiving, loving and praying. The final lesson invites the participants to hear a new Jesus' words about worry free living.
