Text Box: The August stated meeting of the Session of Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church was called to order in Faith Center on August 20, 2009 at 6:36 P.M. by the Moderator, Rev William Younger. The meeting was constituted with prayer by Elder Conner. A quorum was present. The minutes of the June 18, 2009 meeting were approved. The reports of the General Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Benevolence Treasurer, Capital Fund Treasurer and Memorial Fund Treasurer were presented covering the period from June 1, 2009 to July 31, 2009 The reports were received. The pastor reported on matters pertaining to the PCUSA including the adoption of the FOG report for the 219th General Assembly in 2010. Rev Younger also reported on a conversation with Elder Howard Fraley in which Mr. Fraley advised he would be submitting a letter of resignation from his term of office on the Session. Mr. Fraley cited personal reasons. Brenda Terry Manchester is taking a hiatus from her work with the ministry. Plans for the ministry for the fall of 2009 were reviewed. There is to be a strengthened ministry of spiritual formation in the group. It was reported that Camp Susque has retained Amy Smith as Director of Development. LCPC youth leaders will be contacting her as a potential resource for the ROCK groups. The boiler servicing Taylor Hall and Hallelujah Hall has been replaced. The board is seeking bids to make necessary repairs to the Grange building. The Sacrament of Holy Communion was celebrated at the worship service on August 2, 2009. The Session will meet with Robb and Emily Dietrich on August 23, 2009 in anticipation of the baptism of their son Simon Richard. On June 28, 2009 the pastor conducted the adult baptisms of John Bradford Russell and Fallyn Olivia Russell at the Russell home on Loyalsock Creek. The Session reviewed and voted favorably on a recommendation from the Administrative Committee concerning Sustaining and Advancing Goals for the various ministries of Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church for the ministry year 2009-2010. The goals will be published no later than September 15, 2009. Devotions for the next meeting on September 17, 2009 are the responsibility of Rev Younger. The Nominating Committee will be meeting Monday evening September 14th at 6:30 PM. The Budget Committee meeting will then take place on Monday October 5th at 6:30 PM. We ask that everyone that is a part of either of these committees please mark their calendars and plan to attend. (Both will be held in the Faith Centre.) The decisions of these committees will be presented at the Fall Congregational meeting that is scheduled for Thursday October 29th.
