Summer Schedule Questionnaire

Thank you to all who took the time to fill out Summer Schedule Questionnaire.   Sixty-two people made their opinions known concerning the summer change and a large majority of those were in favor of the new schedule.  Working out a time frame for the summer schedule became a challenging process. Planning a Sunday morning schedule change at LCPC involved more than our Worship of God in the sanctuary.  The study of God’s word is of great value to us so input from Christian Education was an important part of the discussion as well as childcare and staff in the nursery and the fellowship planning after the service.   All these and other considerations were taken into account as we stepped out to do something “new.”

Here is a brief overview of the question results:

1.  Did the 9:00 AM time slot affect your Sunday School attendance?             Yes 12%      No  74%

Of those who said “Yes,” many were positive saying the change was for the better and they attended more regularly.  It was noted by Christian Ed that usually the attendance numbers go down during the summer months but this year attendance remained fairly steady.

2.  Did the summer schedule enhance or distract from your Worship?             Yes  56%    No  37%

Apologies for the confusing question!  The “No’s” indicated they will worship no matter what the time.   For the “Yes” answer many, thankfully, circled enhanced or distract.  A large majority said their worship was enhanced especially by the coming together of the 8:30 and 11:00 service worshipers, unity of the congregation and the varying use of the traditional and blended aspects of the two regular services.

3.  In your opinion did the summer schedule strengthen your fellowship time at LCPC?  Yes  64%   No  27%

Many people said the fellowship time was the best part of the change.  Again, it was stated they were able to visit others from the other services that they do not usually get to see and it was good to get to know new people.

4.  Would you want us to repeat the summer schedule in 2009?                      Yes  69%    No  27%

It would appear the summer schedule was a success with most respondents approving of the summer time change.  It is also noted there were those who would rather stay with the “regular” schedule and they admitted change does not come easily to some.  We know the biggest change was for those attending the 8:30 service but even some of the early attendees acknowledged that the two services worshiping together and the fellowship time afterward were blessings to many.

The responses in the questionnaire included many ideas for Worship Committee and Christian Ed which both committees will be discussing.  With over two-thirds of the questionnaire respondents expressing a desire to repeat the summer schedule in the summer of 2009, Worship Committee, having Sessions approval, will follow the same schedule next summer.  With that in mind, those who enjoyed the fellowship time can begin planning early to host a fellowship next year after the summer’s worship services.  Thank you to all who hosted a fellowship this summer.  It was wonderful to see the fellowship scheduling chart fill up quickly with families, committees and church groups willing and excited to share with our church family.  Thank you again to all who took time to respond to the Summer Schedule Questionnaire.
